215 House Members Vote to Impeach VP Sara Duterte

The House votes to impeach VP Sara Duterte, with 215 lawmakers supporting the motion out of 318 total members.

Of the total House membership, 255 are district representatives, while 63 come from party-list groups.

The vote exceeded the required one-third threshold of 102 lawmakers needed to advance the impeachment complaint.

Following the approval, the House of Representatives has selected its impeachment prosecutors.

The appointed prosecutors are Reps. Gerville Luistro, Romeo Acop, Rodge Gutierrez, Joel Chua, Raul Angelo Bongalon, Loreto Acharon, Marcelino Libanan, Arnan Panaligan, Isabel Maria Zamora, Lawrence Defensor, and Jonathan Keith Flores.

With this development, the verified complaint will be transmitted to the Senate, which will convene as an Impeachment Court to conduct the trial.

As of now, the Office of Vice President Sara Duterte has not issued an official statement regarding the impeachment proceedings.
