19-Year-Old Dies, Three Injured in Van Accident in Tayasan, Negros Oriental

A 19-year-old male passenger died in a van accident early morning on June 2 in Barangay Poblacion, Tayasan, Negros Oriental.

Three other individuals sustained injuries, including a 26-year-old woman from Guihulngan City, an 18-year-old woman from Canlaon City, and the 57-year-old driver, also from Canlaon City.

According to Tayasan Municipal Police Station officer-in-charge Pcapt Arturo Marfil III, the passenger van was traveling from Canlaon City to Dumaguete City when the accident occurred.

Investigations revealed that the driver lost control upon reaching a curved section of the road, causing the vehicle to overshoot and crash into a large fallen tree.

All passengers sustained injuries and were rushed to Tayasan Rural Hospital before being transferred to Bindoy District Hospital.

The victims, including the driver, are currently recovering, while the 19-year-old succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

Authorities continue their investigation into the incident, confirming that weather conditions were clear and the driver was not under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash.
