19-Year-Old Arrested After Accidentally Shooting Drinking Companion in Baggao, Cagayan

A 19-year-old man was arrested after accidentally shooting his drinking companion in Baggao, Cagayan.

According to PLTCOL Osmundo Mamanao, chief of Baggao PNP, the victim was identified as Claro Octaviano, a criminology student, while the suspect was named Cyrus James Lunnay, also 19, and a resident of Barangay Imurung, Baggao.

An investigation revealed that the two, along with another friend, had been drinking at the suspect’s house.

In the middle of the drinking session, Lunnay brought out his caliber .45 pistol intending to show Octaviano how to handle the weapon.

Lunnay was unaware that the gun was loaded, and when he pulled the trigger, the victim was accidentally shot in the leg.

The suspect immediately fled the scene but was quickly apprehended within their barangay.

Lunnay claimed that he had hidden the gun since 2014 after allegedly discovering it buried.

The victim is currently in stable condition, while the suspect faces charges of reckless imprudence resulting in serious physical injuries and violation of RA 10591 or illegal possession of firearms.
